The Ship Energy Efficiency Systems of Engine Room Fans (SEES-ERVF) and of Sea Water Cooling Pumps (SEES-CSWP) comprise the Ship Energy Efficiency Control System (SEECU). The SEECU controls the speed of up to four (4) engine room ventilation fans, up to three (3) main sea water cooling pumps, and optionally, one (1) cargo oil pump turbine vacuum condenser sea water cooling pump. A typical configuration of the SEECU comprises of:, (a) Sea Water Cooling Pump Starter Boards and Engine Room Fan Starter Boards for each sea water cooling pump motor and for each engine room fan motor. These boards include the Variable Speed Drives (VSDs – SCHNEIDER TOSHIBA inverters, model Altivar 61). A remote motor start/stop function is provided at each VSD touch screen. A manual control (start/stop) is also provided in each starter panel, where the speed reference of the controlled unit can be by-passed by the selection of the local/direct online control mode. The speed of each motor can be set manually using the local speed potentiometer provided on the starter panel., (b) Two (2) separate control units (comprised of the SCHNEIDER PLC Modicon M340 and the discrete input/output modules SCHNEIDER BMXDDI1602/BMXDRA1605), one for the Sea Water Cooling pump Ship Energy Efficiency System (SEES-CSWCU) and the other for the E/R ventilation fan Ship Energy Efficiency System (SEES-ERVFCU). The control units provide monitoring and alarm, automatic parameter adjustment and remote control of the process, according to feedback from the process via suitable temperature and pressure sensors. These control units communicate with the VSD starters by a Modbus Network., (c) A power distribution panel (SEES-PDP) combined with the display unit (SEES-DSU). This panel is supplied from the ships main and emergency source of power and feeds the control units by separate main and emergency feeder cables. The display unit (SEES-DSU) includes the systems HMI (Human Machine Interface; a 10.4 display unit type HMIGTO5310 of SCHNEIDER Electric) and the systems alarm buzzer, whilst it communicates with the control units by a System Hub Switch TPC/IP Network (ETHERNET, type TCSECU053FNO – SCHNEIDER Electric)., The system provides motor control change-over facilities from DOL or Star/Delta mode to VFD mode and vice-versa.,
